10 Covid-friendly Things To Do This Autumn

Autumn is well and truly underway and, according to the Met Office, it is officially here to stay until 21st December. As we all know by now, everything about this year has to be a little bit different and that seemed doable in Summer when we were able to meet up outside without the wind and rain. But the absence of sunny days does not mean there is nothing exciting going on this Autumn as we approach the holiday seasons! So we thought we would compile some activities you can get involved in this Autumm:

  1. Host a Halloween At Home Party for the people you live with or your support bubble (dependent on what tier you are in of course).
Get your costumes on, carve your pumpkins and play some Halloween games. Some classic favourites include Apple Bobbing, The Doughnut Eating Race and Toilet Roll Mummy Competitions!

2. Get moving and keep active!
Everyone’s favourite lockdown PE teacher, Joe Wicks, is hosting a Halloween Workout tomorrow Saturday 31st at 9am LIVE on his YouTube channel. But if that’s not your style, try just getting up and moving a bit this Autumn to keep your bones warm!

3. Attend a creative workshop!
If zine making is something that you love or if you have no idea what it entails but would like to give it a go, check out this free virtual workshop tomorrow, Saturday 31st October, where you can get your art and stories out there! (Event link here)
If zines aren’t for you, there are 100s of creative workshops on sites like Eventbrite – check them out!

4. Films, films, films & more films!
Autumn is the perfect season for watching films when it’s dreary outside so have a movie day! To get into the spooky season why not have a horror film night in? Or if you’re wanting to vamp it up, check out where your closest Drive-Thru cinema is and see what classics they’re showing this Autumn.

5. Don’t waste your pumpkins – make some tasty treats!
Of course, pumpkins of all shapes and sizes are are a staple around this time of year. But every year so many pumpkins end up going to waste or rotting away. If you’re carving pumpkins this Autumn you can use all the inside goodness to make some really tasty Autumnal food!

Lots of local regions are hosting drive-thru fireworks displays to follow social distancing. Check out a list of some here. OR you can check to see if your favourite fireworks display is putting on a virtual show instead this year OR get some sparklers and have a bit of *safe* fun in your garden!

6. Virtual Museum Exhibitions
If museums and culture are your thing, there are loads of great virtual exhibitions being hosted. And if you’re not sure if this is for you, why not check it out whilst from the comfort of your own home, whilst it’s free and find out? Below we have linked a handful of exhibitions for inspiration!
