  • Closing Date: 10-07-2022

Description

We`re the public body that looks after England`s historic environment. We champion historic places to help people understand, value and care for them. We are excited to share with you an opportunity to complete a Business Administration Level 3 apprenticeship over the course of 21 months at Historic England, generously funded by the Hamish Ogston Foundation & based in our Sector Resilience & Skills Team. We are happy to consider applications for the apprentice to be based at either our York or Manchester office. (With a blend of time in the office and remote working possible)
This role will suit online and remote working / learning but will also require travel and planned overnight stays to work with other team members, programme participants or to visit other Historic England offices. (All travel and subsistence costs for training purposes will be paid for by Historic England apart from travel to your `parent` office).
You may already understand the value of heritage to the local economy, to the communities living nearby and to people who visit heritage sites, however applying for an apprenticeship with us means you can contribute to the work we do at Historic England to help protect, enhance and reveal heritage for everyone.

You will support the successful delivery of the Hamish Ogston Foundation (HOF) Heritage Building Skills Programme, an exciting five-year programme which aims to reduce shortages in heritage construction skills. You will do this by providing a range of administrative support principally to the HOF Skills and Training Manager and HOF Trainee Placement Co-ordinator. As you progress through your apprenticeship you will support the work of colleagues across the programme becoming a knowledgeable and efficient part of the team.

What will you be doing?
80% of your time will be spent in the workplace, and 20% of your time will be spent off the job, completing a training programme specially designed for your apprenticeship with a recognised training provider. This learning may be delivered via in person workshops, in the workplace or by online delivery.
You will learn from experienced colleagues who will support you to gradually take on the following responsibilities through the duration of your apprenticeship

What will you be able to do in the future?
This apprenticeship will give you the knowledge, skills and experience that will greatly enhance your future career prospects. Once you have successfully completed your apprenticeship you will have gained 21 months of work experience and a solid grounding in business administration. While we cannot guarantee an offer of a permanent post within Historic England at the end of your apprenticeship, we are committed to your future and providing you with a solid foundation of skills and experience.
